In this post, I’m gonna talk about how officer positioning makes a difference in Warpath. You can either watch this video or continue reading this post:
For each unit in Warpath, you’re allowed to select upto 2 officers. You can put one officer in the leader’s position & you can put another one in the officer’s position.
There are 2 important things about officer positioning that you need to know:
1. You only get buffs from the officer that’s placed in the leader’s position. So, you’d most likely want to use your highest level officers as your leaders.
& 2. The officer in the leaders position will always use their skill before the officer that’s in the officer’s position.
So, the first rule is quite self explanatory. If I have a level 60 officer & a level 49 officer. I should always use your level 60 in the leaders position & the level 49 in the officers position. And if you have equal level officers then it shouldn’t matter how you arrange them.
So, let’s take a look at an example where I use 2 level 30 officers. Percy & Antonia.
As you’ll notice, even though the officers are both of equal level, I still managed to do slightly more damage with Percy in the leader’s position than I could do with Antonia there.
So, why did this happen?
Well, it happened because of the 2nd rule. Percy has an active skill that not only deals damage but it also increases the firepower of the unit’s she’s leading by 8% for 8 seconds & if she’s maxed out, then she’ll also increase the firepower of the of all the allied units within 2 grids.
So, when I put Antonia in the leader’s position, her skill was triggered before Percy’s & therefore she did normal skill damage. However, when I placed Percy in the leader’s position, not only did she do regular skill damage when her skill triggered, she also increased the Firepower of the artillery by 8%. Since officer skill damage is based on troop firepower, when Antonia’s skill triggered next, she did slightly more skill damage because of the extra firepower.
The extra damage might not seem like a lot, but over time, it’ll add up & become quite significant.
Also, if you’ve maxed out Percy then you’d want to use her on one of your units that’s in the middle to get the full benefit of the firepower boost since the area of effect of her skill is only 2 grids.
