Brain Teaser Event – Mafia City

The Brain Teaser Event is very similar to the game 2048 where your goal is to get the number 2048 by combining a bunch of other numbers starting from 1 & 2. The only major difference is that the highest number you can get to in this event is 10. Also, instead of seeing different powers of 2, you see the numbers 1 to 10.

I personally used to play this game 2048 a lot in the past, so I know a thing or 2 about this event which is why I’ll be giving you a few tips to score more points in this event. So, let’s get started.

Tip Number 1: Always have your largest number in one of the 4 corners.
It’s usually easy to combine small numbers like 1s, 2s & 3s. However, for larger numbers like 7-10 it takes a lot of time to combine them. So, if you keep them in the middle of the board, they’ll end up blocking the path for other numbers making it much harder for you to combine them. But, if you instead keep them in a corner, you’ll have a lot more space to combine these small numbers without the large one coming in the way.

There are 4 corners in the game. Let’s say you decide to place your biggest number at the bottom right corner. In order to make it stay there permanently, you’ll only have the option to move downwards & to the right because only those 2 moves will keep the big number in place. If you move upwards or to the left, then the big number will lose it’s position & it won’t be in the corner anymore.

If you’re not used to doing this, then you should try this out in a few practice games to get a hang of it before you move on to the next tip.

Tip Number 2: Try to build chains of big numbers so you can combine them easily when the time comes

If you have your largest number at the bottom right, then you can start building a chain by having the 2nd largest number right next to it, then the 3rd largest number next to the 2nd & so on. All of these numbers should either be in the same row or in the same column.

This helps keep the large numbers in a very small area so you can use more of the area to combine the smaller numbers. Also, if you fill the entire bottom row with unique numbers, now you’ll be able to not only just move downwards & to the right, but you’ll also be able to move to the left because the entire bottom row will be locked.

In the same way, if you decide fill the entire rightmost column with unique numbers, then you’ll be able to move upwards as well.

The number chain that you create will help you feed your largest number easily since you’ll be able to combine multiple numbers in the chain at once.

Finally, the last tip:

Tip Number 3: Try thinking a few moves ahead

Thinking ahead is key in this game as it helps you identify sequences in which you can combine numbers & it also helps you avoid falling into traps that force you to make bad moves.

It’s also the hardest thing to do as it usually takes a lot of time & it’s difficult to envision all different scenarios especially for beginners. However, with some practice, you should be able to at least see combination sequences as they don’t require you to predict where the new block is going to spawn. Identifying traps is much harder to do as you need to consider all the possible squares for the new tile to spawn & if there’s even one spawn square that could lead to a bad position, then you should avoid it.

So, those were the 3 tips that I have for you guys for this brain teaser event.

There are also a 3 power ups that you can use in this event. However, you can only use any one of them, once during each game. The first one allows you to swap any 2 blocks with each other & requires you to play 15 games to unlock, the 2nd one let’s you undo your last move and requires you to play 30 games to unlock while the 3rd one lets you delete a block from the board & requires you to play 45 games to unlock. In my opinion, the delete powerup is the most effective one as it’ll allow you to delete a 10 from the board to create more space for other numbers.

You can watch the video above to see how I do this event myself.
